Setting Sail: Ultimate Bittersweet Departure from the Marina.

The morning of June 4th, 2023 marked a significant moment for us as we bade farewell to the marina that had been our home for just over a year. Surrounded by our closest and dearest, emotions ran high as we prepared to embark on a journey that would take us away. The sight of our loved ones waving us off and the kind gesture of the marina office staff warmed our hearts.

Chasing the Wind:

As we set sail with the morning sun, there was a promising breeze that propelled us forward. The picturesque view of Brighton gave us hope for a smooth journey. However, the unpredictable nature of the sea soon became apparent as the wind dissipated, leaving us frustrated. With only 4 knots of downwind, we decided to try our luck with our spinnaker. But our efforts were in vain as the wind dwindled further. Reluctantly, we resorted to starting the engines, accepting that the ever-changing UK weather had its own plans for us.

Arrival in Portsmouth:

After battling with the wind—or lack thereof—for hours, we finally arrived in Portsmouth around 6 p.m. We rest and recharge before continuing our voyage next day heading over to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight for few nights due to persistent northeast winds.

As we rested and refocused , we couldn’t help but reflect on the experiences that brought us to this point. The allure of the open sea and the promise of new adventures kept our spirits high. We embraced the challenges and unpredictability that came with sailing, knowing that each setback only added to our resilience and adaptability.

Our departure from the marina on that fateful day marked the beginning of a grand adventure. Despite the initial setbacks, the lessons learned, and the anticipation of what lies ahead. The sea is our playground, and with each passing day, we discover the true meaning of freedom and the boundless possibilities that come with embracing the unknown.
