Next stop, Plymouth with Curry, Clothing, and Boat Friends!
Ahoy there, fellow adventurers! Settle in for a tale that’s bound to tickle your funny bone and leave you craving curry and clothing shopping. Our week in Plymouth was a whirlwind of excitement, delicious eats, unexpected friendships, and a fair share of fashion choices that might make even the seagulls caw with laughter.
Arriving in Plymouth early afternoon, we wasted no time and tied up our trusty boat. Our stomachs growled in anticipation as we headed straight into town to explore. And what do you know? We stumbled upon a curry joint that turned out to be a flavor explosion! We couldn’t help but dig our faces into those delicious dishes. With our bellies full, we wobbled back to our boat for some much-needed rest and sleep.
Now, let me tell you about the day we bid farewell to our sailing buddy who hopped aboard the good ship Salome for some extra hours of seafaring fun. As we waved our goodbyes, we headed into town, where destiny (and perhaps a hint of retail therapy) awaited. A clothing store beckoned, and against all odds, I managed to convince Ian, my partner-in-crime, to venture in with me. Lo and behold, I emerged with a dainty dress that screamed “Ahoy, sailor!” Ian, however, emerged with a haul of clothing fit for a royal sailor parade. Who would’ve thought that the wind-swept streets of Plymouth could rival the world’s finest catwalks? 😎🤣
Our week unfurled like a nautical sitcom, with unexpected twists and delightful turns. We crossed paths with an old friend—one of the first mates I made upon landing on British shores. The ensuing days were like a hilarious montage of shared laughter, sun-soaked memories, and the occasional seagull photobomb. what a splendid time it was! We had two glorious days in total hanging out with her and her family, creating memories that will forever be cherished. 🤍
One of those days, we decided to embark on a mini-adventure and took a small ferry over to Cornwall, where my friend lives. Now, let me tell you, it’s quite intersting how close things can be in the UK while still being completely different. Dover and Cornwall are just a 5-minute ferry ride apart, and yet they belong to two entirely distinct worlds. It always brings a smile to my face when I observe such peculiar contrasts. Don’t you just love when geography decides to play tricks on you?
Ian left me on the boat for a day while he went into town for his first aid course. What did I do with my newfound freedom, you wonder? Well, I spent the day just chilling and catching up on our website and blog. Life of a sailor, I tell you! But hold on, there’s more to this tale. As luck would have it, a new boat friend arrived next door amidst the blustery 28-knot winds. Being the kind-hearted sailor that I am, I offered my assistance in getting their lines inn and secure them to the pontoon. Grateful for my help, they thanked me and with that, we hit it off. From that moment on, I found myself embracing some new boat buddies. The double Dutch travel Ah, the sailing community! They’re 98% friendly, and boy, do they know how to make you feel at home. Just another reason why I love this sailing life!
As the sun dipped below the horizon, Ian returned just in time for dinner. We whipped up a feast fit for kings, and together we savored the flavors of our culinary conquests. With satisfied bellies, we bid adieu to the day and prepared for an early rise to move around the corner and avoid the sneaky winds.
And so, dear readers, as the winds whispered their goodbyes, we sailed away from Plymouth, leaving behind a wake of chuckles, curry-induced grins, and the lingering promise that the sea will forever hold more laughter and odd clothing hauls for us. Until our next rendezvous, may your sails be billowed with laughter and your curries as satisfying as a well-told joke. Anchors aweigh, and let the giggles guide your way!
Stay tuned for more tales of misadventures, laughter, and epic fish-catching endeavors. Until next time, may the winds guide you to new shores of laughter and merriment!
