“Ahoy, Salcombe! A Night Sail Full of Laughter and Adventure!”
Ahoy there, my fellow adventure-seekers!
Picture this: a breathtaking night sail to the charming town of Salcombe, where Devon and Cornwall meet in a dance of beauty and coastal wonder. As I recount our hilarious escapades, sailing into the unknown with my trusty mate, Ian. No autopilot could save us from the giggles and unexpected surprises that awaited us. So, hold on tight as we set sail, navigating through the stars and occasional mishaps, all with a dash of humour that only I can deliver!
The Night Sail Shakedown: Alright, let’s get one thing straight – Ian and I are no rookies when it comes to late-night shenanigans. Remember those red-eye and deep night flights from our aviation days? Oh, we rocked those like pros! But sailing through the night? That’s a whole new ball game, my friends. It’s just us two against the vast ocean, and the only computer in sight is that autopilot doing its thing. A night sail it is! Besides, Ian needed some night sails under his belt to conquer his yacht master certification. So, with our sailor hats on and a boatload of excitement, we waved goodbye to Studland Bay around 7 pm, knowing we were in for a wild ride that’d last about 14 hours.

Spinnaker Shenanigans: Ah, the sail was going just peachy until the wind decided to play hard to get. Typical, right? But before it ditched us, we managed to unleash the spinnaker and catch some wind for a wild 10 minutes of exhilaration! Let me tell you, we felt like sailing superheroes, defying gravity and riding those waves like pros. Hahahah! Who needs a superhero cape when you’ve got a spinnaker, am I right?
A Brush with History – and a Ship! As we sailed into the night, we stumbled upon a true marvel – a real vintage historian ship! Yes, you heard that right. It’s like history and the sea decided to throw us a surprise party. We stood there, jaw-dropped, as if we’d stepped into a swashbuckling movie. The sea was on our side, showing off its hidden gems. Ships is a replica of the Atlantic

Salome Mornings and Coffee Dreams: When morning light finally graced us with its presence, we found ourselves docked in Salcombe’s cozy harbour. Arriving into town, we where greeted by the smell of freshly brewed coffee. We couldn’t resist – we treated ourselves to some heavenly cups of joe before diving into town exploration mode. Naturally, we ended up at the yacht club; after all, sailors like us deserve a drink or two to toast to our escapades!

Adventures with Ian’s Cousin and Partner: In the days that followed, Ian’s cousin and partner joined the laughter party! We embarked on a jolly drive around the Salcombe area and stumbled upon a beach restaurant that promised good food and even better times. Needless to say, the promise delivered. Cheers to good food and great company!
Plymouth Calls, Gin Beckons: As we prepared for our next sailing adventure to Plymouth, our dear friend decided to jump aboard! His mission? To log more “sealing” hours, or, well, “sailing” hours under his belt. We met him at the bus stop – because who needs a red carpet when you’ve got a bus stop, right? We wasted no time and headed straight to Salome gin distillery for some smooth sips of the finest gin they had to offer. Pretty good stuff, I must say!

And so, my fellow thrill-seekers, as the sun sets on our unforgettable time in Salcombe, we look forward to what lies ahead. With laughter in our hearts and the spirit of adventure in our souls, we sail forth to Plymouth and beyond. Let’s keep those sails high, spirits higher, and laughter soaring as we embark on our next daring escapade. Plymouth, we’re coming for you! Hahahah!
