This is us

Once upon a time.

I’m (Dee) Originally from Iceland, I made the bold decision to relocate to the UK, driven by my deep-seated desire to become a flight attendant and explore the world. For two years, I soared through the skies, embracing the exhilaration of traversing different continents and immersing myself in diverse cultures. It was during this time that fate intervened and introduced me to my partner in crime.

Our journey began with wanderlust in our hearts and an insatiable desire to explore the world so for 8 long years, our lives were defined by a whirlwind of travel and a relentless pursuit of societal expectations. We labored tirelessly, convinced that this was the path we were meant to follow.

Amidst our global escapades, we found ourselves yearning for a place to call home—a sanctuary where we could anchor ourselves amidst the chaos. The decision to embark on a house renovation project seemed like the natural next step in our journey. We poured our energy, creativity, and resources into transforming a dilapidated structure into a haven that would reflect our personal style and provide solace amidst our travels.

Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and months into years as we dedicated ourselves to the grueling task at hand. We toiled relentlessly, convinced that by conforming to societal expectations and creating the perfect home, we would find fulfillment. But the more we worked, the more we realized that our souls yearned for something different—something that extended beyond material possessions and the relentless pursuit of success.

The exhaustion began to take its toll, both physically and emotionally. The onset of lockdowns and the pause in the aviation industry prompted us to reevaluate our priorities and seek a different path. We questioned the purpose of our endeavors and the sacrifices we were making. It was during these moments of introspection that a realisation washed over us like a wave crashing onto the shore: we were living someone else’s dream, not our own. We craved an escape from the relentless rat race and longed for the serenity of the open waters. It was in this moment that we discovered our mutual love for sailing, sunshine, and warm weather—an irresistible combination that sparked a radical transformation in our lives.

With newfound clarity, we made a conscious choice to rewrite our narrative. With unwavering determination, we embarked on a quest to find our own catamaran—a vessel that would become both our home and means of exploration. Though we understood the potential financial limitations, we remained undeterred. Miraculously, we stumbled upon a catamaran that fit within our budget, eliminating any doubt or second thoughts. Without hesitation, we seized the opportunity, purchasing the boat and setting a timeline for our transition. We dedicated an entire year to mastering the art of sailing a catamaran, absorbing every bit of knowledge and skill necessary to navigate the vast oceanic expanse. Simultaneously, we embarked on a liberating downsizing journey, selling our four-bedroom renovated house along with its contents, while retaining only the essentials. We meticulously packed up the remnants of our old life and bid farewell to the familiar, embracing the unknown with open hearts.

Our journey continues, guided by a profound sense of purpose and a commitment to living life on our own terms. This transformative experience has not only provided us with a profound sense of freedom, but it has also revealed the boundless possibilities that lie beyond conventional boundaries. This journey is a testament to the power of chasing dreams, embracing change, and venturing into the unknown. Through this platform, I/We aim to share our adventures, from the lessons we’ve learned and mistakes we make.

So join us on this extraordinary odyssey, Together, let’s shape a world that celebrates individuality, creativity, and the pursuit of a life well-lived. Together let’s build another kind of world.

This is our Odyssey, where dreams take flight.
