Union Island- Happy Hour, Starfish and a Caribbean Dream
Ah, Union Island—our first official stop in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. One moment we were in Grenada, and the next, we were checking into a whole new country. Just like that, passports were stamped, the anchor was down, and we were ready to explore.

.
Clifton Harbour – A Whirlwind Welcome
Our first stop was Clifton Harbour, where we dutifully handled check-in formalities before setting off to wander the colorful streets of the main town. If you’ve ever wanted to see pure, unfiltered Caribbean life, Clifton is the place. The streets are lined with vibrant markets, reggae music spills out from tiny shops, and the smell of grilled fish drifts through the air, tempting you at every corner.
.
But the real star of Clifton Harbour? Happy Island.

.
A man-made island built from conch shells, sitting like a mirage just off the coast, home to a legendary rum bar. And, well, they don’t call it Happy Island for nothing. Let’s just say I (Dee) took “happy hour” quite literally and may have been… happy hour-ed. What happened after that? Well, my memory is a little fuzzy, but I do recall some enthusiastic dancing, questionable singing, and a rather overenthusiastic declaration of love for the island.
.
Chatham Bay – Starfish, Turtles, and a Puppy (Oh My!)
With slightly sore heads and a newfound appreciation for hydration, we set sail westward to Chatham Bay—a stunningly peaceful anchorage with crystal-clear waters and, as I soon discovered, an overwhelming number of starfish.

.
Picture this: I jump into the water, all ready to enjoy a leisurely swim, and suddenly—starfish. Everywhere. Big ones, tiny ones, red ones, blue-ish ones. I lost count. It was like swimming through a celestial galaxy, only instead of stars, there were adorable sea creatures just chilling on the ocean floor.
And then, just when I thought the day couldn’t get any better, a turtle. My first Caribbean sea turtle, gracefully gliding past as if to say, “Welcome to the Grenadines, darling.” Cue me trying (and failing) to follow it as stealthily as possible.

.
Back on land, Chatham Bay did not disappoint. A long stretch of soft, golden sand, framed by lush green hills, with local beachside restaurants offering cold drinks and the kind of food that makes you sigh happily after every bite.
At Sunset Cove, we found not only a great spot for drinks but also a tiny eight-week-old puppy who had perfected the art of getting cuddles from passing sailors. Was I obsessed? Absolutely. Did I contemplate stealing said puppy? Also yes.

.
For dinner, we headed to Sun Beach & Eat, where the name pretty much says it all. The food? Fantastic. The setting? Pure paradise. The vibes? Caribbean perfection.
Sailing Away – But Not Too Far
Four days in Union Island, and we had barely scratched the surface. But the ocean was calling, and so was our next destination—Tobago Cays.
And with that, we hoisted the anchor, waved goodbye to the starfish and turtles, and set sail for the next adventure.
